Easter breads are a symbol of breaking the Lenten fast on Easter morning. There are many types of Easter breads, rich, yeast dough baked with eggs, raisins and sugar. Every city seems to have its specialty but they are very similar to each other. Traditionally hard boiled colored Easter Eggs are placed in the middle of a wreath for decoration. Our Sweet Breakfast Bread or German Easter Bread is a soft, 2 lbs, buttery, lemon flavored braid, with or without raisins (your choice) glazed with a confectionery glaze and topped with almond slices. This bread is wonderful to just pull apart and eat, or slice it and eat it with preserves or honey.
